Silver Coast runs from Ericeira north of Lisbon down through the Alentejo and Comporta. For those looking for space without being far from amenities — everything lies within an hour of Lisbon airport. The area is made up of surf villages, cork oak fields, rice paddies and historic towns.
The pace is clearly slower than in the Algarve or Lisbon. Comporta, about an hour south of Lisbon, is the more chic pole and popular with architects and designers. Ericeira is a surf village with an international community.
